The butcher shop, end-to-end.

Cleaver replaces the spreadsheets, cut-sheet binders, scale tickets, and recall paperwork with one tool that knows the difference between a chuck primal and a Friday grind run.

The problem

Butcher shops run on paper.
It costs you.

Generic POS software treats meat like a t-shirt. It doesn't know what a primal is, can't track per-package weights, and offers no recall trail.

Cut sheets get lost

A binder of customer preferences works until the page Sarah needs for her half-share isn't where the cutter expects it. Then everyone improvises.

Scale tickets pile up

A drawer of taped weights waiting to be reconciled into POS. By Friday, half don't match a customer; by next week, no one remembers.

Recalls are guesswork

Health department asks 'which customers got product from Carcass A?' You look at last month's clipboard and try to remember.

The Cleaver way

From farm to register,
one trail.

1

Animals

Track every carcass from drop-off through aging to cutting. Buy from farmers via standard purchase orders that auto-create animal records on receipt — with cost basis attached for yield reporting.

2

Cuts

Cut sheets per customer, per carcass. Templates for common scenarios (half beef, whole hog, hunter deer). Pack & Label mints serialized stock with weights — so each package traces back to its source animal.

3

Register

POS configured for variable-weight items out of the box. Scan a Pack Label barcode and the cashier rings up the exact weight. Bulk products by the kg, deli case items by the lb.

Features

Built for how meat
actually moves.

Pack & Label

Per-package serials with real weights

When the cutter finishes a carcass, every package gets its own serial number with the weight, source animal, and use-by date printed on a Code 128 barcode. Scan it at checkout — POS sells exactly that package, not an average.

  • Code 128 barcode labels, 10 per A4 sheet
  • Per-pack weight stored on stock.lot
  • Serial → carcass linkage for one-query recall

Bulk Batches

Grind runs that survive a recall

Pool trim from three carcasses into a 30 kg run of ground beef. Each carcass goes on its own line — yield per animal stays exact, and a recall picks out every contributor in one query.

  • Per-carcass weight on every batch line
  • Tag the primal (Ground Chuck vs. Ground Round)
  • Mix species when the recipe calls for it — beef + pork blend

PO bridge

Buy from a farmer, get an animal

Confirm a PO from the farm. When the receipt is validated, you get one cleaver.carcass record per animal — PO link, vendor, and cost basis attached. That cost flows straight into your yield-per-kg reporting.

  • One animal per unit on the receipt — never lumped together
  • Purchase cost ties to yield-per-kg reports automatically
  • Standard Odoo accounting under the hood — no parallel ledger

Who it's for

Independent butcher shops
that take their craft seriously.

Custom processors

Customers drop off animals; you cut and wrap to spec. Cleaver captures preferences once per customer, drives the cut sheet, and bills Cut & Wrap by the pound.

Best fit

If half-shares and whole-hog orders are most of your week

Retail butchers

Buy carcasses from farmers, break down to the case, sell at the counter. Cleaver handles the PO → animal bridge, Pack & Label for premium cuts, Bulk Batches for the grinder.

Best fit

If your meat case turns over weekly and you sell to walk-ins

Hunter shops

Seasonal volume of deer, elk, and game. Cleaver's hunter intake captures field-dressed weights and customer info fast, with state-program reporting if you participate in donations.

Best fit

If November is 60% of your annual volume

Pricing FAQ

The questions we get most.

Honest answers. If yours isn't here, email us — usually a same-day reply.

What counts as a 'pound' against my plan?

Every pound of meat that the platform helps you process: each retail package you weigh through Pack & Label, plus the output weight of every bulk run (sausage, ground beef, mixes) once you mark it Posted. Live and hanging weights of incoming carcasses don't count — only finished output. Voided packs are excluded automatically.

What happens if I go over my monthly plan?

You keep working — nothing breaks. Anything over your monthly quota is billed as overage at the rate listed on your tier ($0.040/lb for Starter, $0.035/lb for Pro, $0.025/lb for Volume). You'll see your real-time usage on the operations dashboard so there's never a surprise. We'll prompt you to upgrade if you cross a tier's break-even point three months in a row.

Can I downgrade if my volume drops?

Yes, anytime. If your monthly throughput drops below the next tier down for two months running, downgrade through the customer portal and your next bill reflects the new tier. No retroactive charges, no clawback of features.

When am I charged?

On the 1st of each month, for the previous month's usage. So your January 1 invoice covers December's base fee + any December overage. We use Stripe — automatic payment from a card or ACH on file. Failed payments retry on a Stripe dunning schedule and you get email notifications before service is affected.

Are there setup fees, contracts, or minimums?

No setup fees, no annual contracts, no minimum commitment. Pay month-to-month, cancel anytime. Each plan has a monthly throughput floor — that's your base fee, charged whether or not you process anything that month. Beyond that, no surprises.

Can I switch plans mid-month?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately — your remaining month is pro-rated against the new tier's base fee. Downgrades take effect on the next billing cycle so you don't lose features mid-month after you've already used them.

What's NOT included in my plan?

Hardware (scales, label printers, barcode scanners) — you bring your own. Payment processing fees if you take cards through POS — those are passed through at Stripe's published rates. Custom report development, on-site training, and white-label branding are available on Enterprise; they're outside the self-serve plans by design.
